Gates Concert Series Performance

WHAT:
Internationally acclaimed
violinist and singer Elana James will
perform Austin “Green Gates” final performance in a concert series leading up
to Austin’s celebration of Earth Day 2006 (April 22nd).
“Green Gates” is Austin’s biggest public art
event ever – 100 12-foot tall cedar gates designed and created by individuals
and groups will be installed in parks and green spaces. “Green Gates” brings
Austin’s visual artists together
with community and musicians, building support for local environmental efforts
and ongoing related projects that keep Austin “green”. The Austin community can directly
support local environmental efforts by attending the final “Green Gates” Concert
Series performance. Cover is $10 at the door and all proceeds benefit Austin
Green Art.

is a nonprofit initiative to promote sustainable Culture© through community
artmaking and dialogue.
Elena James
Violinist
and singer Elana James is an internationally acclaimed performer who has been
featured at countless major concerts and music festivals worldwide. Most
recently Elana has teamed up with Bob Dylan as part of his touring band, the
first female instrumentalist to do so in thirty years. One of the youngest
members ever to be inducted into the Texas Western Swing Hall of Fame, Elana
makes her home in Austin, Texas.
